Hi, I am Olga and I am an artist based in Paris, France. I create paintings based on stories and worlds that I come up with. Want to know what inspired this particular piece? Keep on reading!

The story behind the 2023 Mary Ann painting:

In an alternative Universe, the Earth was not hit by a giant meteor and as a result, the dinosaurs never went extinct. Instead, they evolved into Dino Sapient whose artistic culture runs in parallel with ours.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is just as beloved of a children’s literature classic in the dino universe, as it is in ours. The story features many of the same characters, with the exception of all humans having been naturally replaced by dinosaurs: e.g. Dino-Alice is a girl velociraptor!

[Alice] took up the fan and a pair of the gloves, and was just going to leave the room, when her eye fell upon a little bottle that stood near the looking-glass. There was no label this time with the words “DRINK ME,” but nevertheless she uncorked it and put it to her lips. “I know something interesting is sure to happen,” she said to herself …

… before she had drunk half the bottle, she found her head pressing against the ceiling, and had to stoop to save her neck from being broken. She hastily put down the bottle, saying to herself “That’s quite enough—I hope I shan’t grow any more—As it is, I can’t get out at the door—I do wish I hadn’t drunk quite so much!”

Alas! it was too late to wish that! She went on growing, and growing, and very soon had to kneel down on the floor: in another minute there was not even room for this, and she tried the effect of lying down with one elbow against the door, and the other arm curled round her head. Still she went on growing, and, as a last resource, she put one arm out of the window, and one foot up the chimney … .

About the Artist

Olga is a painter who draws inspiration from the fantastical worlds living inside her head: whether it is a parallel universe where the sapient life descended from dinosaurs rather than apes, or a land inhabited by mischievous lemurs, each artwork's characters come with their own story to tell.

Olga lives and works in her home in Paris, France that she shares with two furry assistants, of feline and canine variety.
